Dabei erarbeitet er ein Arrangement von Dispositionen und Strategien, die auf Inversionen und Paradoxien basieren und verlagert so unsere Raum- und Zeitkenntnis auf kognitiver und physischer Ebene. Ein wichtiges Dispositiv dieser Konstruktion eines psychedelischen Selbst ist der Klang; die auditive Erfahrung konstituiert eine zusätzliche Ebene in Jacintos Arbeit. _Labyrinthitis_ ist ein Beispiel für das Zusammenwirken von räumlichen und akustischen Faktoren, eine Korrelation der Sinneseindrücke und des Körpervolumens sowie die Wahrnehmungsveränderung, die durch die Störung unseres Gleichgewichtssystems hervorgerufen wird. Der Titel bezieht sich auf den medizinischen Begriff _Labyrinthitis_ , der einen Entzündungsprozess bezeichnet, der das knöcherne Labyrinth im menschlichen Innenohr angreift. _Labyrinthitis_ erläutert komplexe Beziehungen zwischen Körper und Raum. Den Besucherinnen und Besuchern wird angeboten, mit einer Skulptur zu experimentieren, die aus sechs gigantischen, mit Helium gefüllten Ballons besteht. An einem dieser frei schwebenden Sphärenbündel hängend, vermindert sich das eigene Körpergewicht um etwa 35 kg, was einen weichen Fall garantiert. Die monumentale wolkenförmige Skulptur, die im Hof der Manifattura Tabacchi installiert ist, kündigt den Niedergang der modernistischen Utopien an und verleiht der Prekarität des politischen Gleichgewichts Ausdruck. The artist employs an array of devices and strategies, based upon inversions and paradoxes that cognitively and physically shift our recognition of space and time. Sound contributes to this construction of a psychedelic self, since the auditory experience constitutes another layer to Jacinto’s works. _Labyrinthitis_ is an example of synergy between spatial and audible aspects, a correlation of sensation and corporeal volume. It is based upon altering perception by upsetting our system of balance. The title refers to the medical term of _labyrinthitis_ , an inflammatory process affecting the labyrinths that house the vestibular system in the inner ear. _Labyrinthitis_ exemplifies complexities of the relationship of the body with space. The public is offered the chance to experiment with a sculpture made from six gigantic black balloons, filled with helium. Hanging from this levitating sphere-cluster, one’s weight is diminished by about 35kg, thus provoking a “soft” fall. Installed in the courtyard of the Manifattura Tabacchi, the monumental sculptural “cloud” announces a decline of modernist utopias and articulates the precariousness of political balance. L’artista utilizza una serie di strategie ed espedienti basati su inversioni e paradossi che modificano il nostro modo di percepire lo spazio e il tempo, sia a livello fisico che conoscitivo. L’esperienza auditiva costituisce un ulteriore livello di percezione delle opere di Jacinto, che definisce il proprio ego psichedelico con il contributo del suono. _Labyrinthitis_ è un esempio di sinergia tra aspetti spaziali e uditivi, una correlazione di sensazione e volume corporale. Si basa infatti su un’alterazione della percezione attraverso il rovesciamento del nostro sistema di equilibrio. Il titolo si riferisce al termine medico “labirintite”, un’infiammazione che colpisce il labirinto, che contiene l’apparato vestibolare all’interno dell’orecchio. _Labyrinthitis_ esemplifica la complessità della relazione del corpo con lo spazio. Al pubblico è offerta la possibilità di interagire con una scultura composta da sei palloni neri giganti, pieni di elio. Quando lo spettatore si appende a questo insieme di sfere fluttuanti, il suo peso diminuisce di circa 35 chili, provocandogli una “dolce” caduta. Installata nel cortile della Manifattura Tabacchi, la monumentale “nuvola” scultorea annuncia il declino delle utopie moderniste ed esprime la precarietà dell’equilibrio politico.
