Für _Scenarios_ hat er die Licht-Installation _Climate Uchronia_ geschaffen. Sie bezieht sich auf unsere Wahrnehmung der Bedingungen von natürlicher und künstlicher Umgebung und wie sie unmerklich von gegenwärtigen Phänomenen wie der globalen Erwärmung beeinflusst wird. Was wir zuvor als natürliches Klima betrachtet haben – welches sich immer draußen, außerhalb eines Gebäudes befand – ist heutzutage nicht länger natürlich. Die klassische architektonische Dichotomie zwischen innen und außen existiert nicht mehr. Menschliche Aktivitäten und ihr CO2-Verbauch verändern die globale Atmosphäre des Planeten und manipulieren sie als ein Produkt. Das Paradoxe ist: Wenn wir das „natürliche“ Klima erleben wollen, müssen wir es nun „künstlich“ wieder herstellen. _Climate Uchronia_ ist die Errichtung einer falschen Sonne; die physische Projektion dieses uchronischen Universums. Sie offenbart die Welt, wie sie wäre, hätte die klimatische Aufheizung nicht bereits stattgefunden. Basierend auf einem Modell der atmosphärischen Chemie erzeugt ein Computer das uchronische Klima für jede Minute der Laufzeit der Manifesta 7. Die Software berechnet die Variation der Lichtintensität abhängig von Veränderungen der relativen Luftfeuchtigkeit. Mit _Climate Uchronia_ bietet uns Philippe Rahm die Gelegenheit, eine Welt zu erleben, die wir niemals kennen lernen werden. The work of Philippe Rahm raises the possibility that climate can replace the typology, function and form of what we use and define as architecture. For _Scenarios_ he has designed the light installation _Climate Uchronia_ which refers to how our perception of natural and artificial ambient conditions are subtly influenced by factors such as climate change. What we recognized before as natural climate, which has always been outdoor, at the exterior of a building, is no longer natural today. The classical architectural dichotomy between inside and outside does not exist any longer. Human activities and its CO² consumption are changing the global atmosphere of the planet, manipulating it as a product. The paradox is that if we want to experience the “natural” climate we now have to reproduce it “artificially.” _Climate Uchronia_ is the construction of a fake sun, including the physical projection of this uchronian universe, revealing the world as it would be if global warming had not already happened. Based on an Atmospheric Chemistry Model that sets out to remove the effects of greenhouse gases since 1850, a computer generates this uchronian climate for each minute of the duration of Manifesta 7. The software calculates the variation of light intensity depending of the variation of the relative humidity in the air. With _Climate Uchronia_ , Philippe Rahm offers us a brief possibility to inhabit a world that we will never know. L’opera di Philippe Rahm indaga le possibili influenze del clima sulla funzione e le forme dell’architettura. Per _Scenarios_ l’artista ha realizzato l’installazione luminosa _Climate Uchronia_ . L’opera fa riferimento al modo in cui la nostra percezione delle condizioni ambientali naturali o artificiali viene impercettibilmente influenzata da fattori qua il cambiamento climatico. Quello che un tempo per noi era il clima naturale, che é sempre stato considerato esterno, fuori dall’edificio, oggi non lo è più. La classica dicotomia architettonica tra esterno e interno cessa di esistere. Le attività umane e il loro conseguente consumo di CO² stanno modificando l’atmosfera globale del pianeta, manipolandola come un prodotto. Il paradosso è che se vogliamo sperimentare il clima “naturale” dobbiamo riprodurlo “artificialmente”. _Climate_ _Uchronia_ è la costruzione di un sole simulato che comprende la proiezione di un universo uchroniano, ovvero di come sarebbe il mondo se il surriscaldamento non esistesse. Grazie alla simulazione del modello di chimica atmosferica che rimuove i gas serra prodotti dal 1850, un computer genera un clima uchroniano per ogni minuto della durata di Manifesta 7 attraverso un calcolo della variazione dell’intensità della luce e dell’umidità relativa nell’aria.
