Didier Fiuza Faustino focuses on the dependency between corporeal needs and psychic qualities as well as the socio-political contexts of architecture and visual art. As such, his subversive work reflects urban vibrations, searching for the realm of privacy in a world dominated by the aggressive rhetoric of exposure to pseudo-democracy. Faustino’s spooky and ambiguous architecture operates as an instrument to heighten our senses and sharpen our consciousness. It constitutes an interface between the individual and collective body and mediates the blurred boundary between the private and the public through the strategies of resistance towards social and political order. It presents the everyday and the habitual in a new way. Corpus Delicti is a particular zone of fantasy. Although detached from reality, it is evocative of sites of worship, fitness centers that are temples to bodybuilding and pleasure dungeons for sexual extremes. The artist assimilates formal modernist codes then breaks them through the use of unexpected materials._ Corpus Delicti_ is an example of subversive furniture, both functional and contemplative, a perverse playground as a quasi-futuristic site where rites of togetherness can be performed. Faustino constructs a laboratory of corporeality, opening up an unlimited number of options to play and to adapt a body within the flexible pattern of a universal device.
