Wenn die gegenwärtigen Restaurierungspläne für das Gebäude umgesetzt werden, wird es nicht länger als Habitat und Wirtstruktur für solche Organismen dienen. _The Naked Garden_ erwächst aus eben diesem Übergangszustand, durch die Vernetzung verschiedener Verfahren: biologische Fortpflanzung, mathematische Abstraktion und technologische Ausführung. Ein mit den Wachstumsregeln der Pilze programmierter Roboter durchkerbt und perforiert die Mauer, auf der die Pilze bereits siedeln, lässt Licht, Wasser und Wind ein und schafft somit die Grundbedingungen des Lebens. Die Arbeiten von Stangeland und Kropf entwickeln alternative Baumethoden, wobei sie sich auf lokales Wissen und Ressourcen wie z. B. die Hinterlassenschaften der Holzbau- oder Ölindustrien beziehen. Unter ihren jüngsten Projekten befinden sich _Geopark_ , eine Anlage für Jugendliche in Stavanger, ein Kulturzentrum in Fløien / Bergen, eine Berghütte in Prekestolen und ein Kulturzentrum in Flekkefjord. Over time, parasitic micro-organisms such as cyanobacterias and the _Cladosporium_ genus of fungi, have occupied and overgrown the Alumix factory. When the restoration of the building was implemented, it ceased to act as a habitat and host structure for such organisms. _The Naked Garden_ emerges from this transitional state. It is generated by the mediation of different modes: biological propagation, mathematical abstraction and technological execution. A robot, programmed with the rules by which the fungi grow, engraves and perforates the wall already inhabited by fungi, thereby allowing light, water and wind to enter and to facilitate the basic conditions of life. In their work, Stangeland and Kropf create alternative building methods using local knowledge and resources, for instance from the timber building heritage or the oil industry. Some of their recent projects are: _Geopark_ , a youth park in Stavanger, a cultural center at Fløien / Bergen, a mountain lodge at Prekestolen, and a cultural center at Flekkefjord. Nel momento in cui i lavori di restauro dell’edificio vengono completati, quest’ultimo non è più né l´habitat né la struttura ospitante per tali organismi. _The Naked Garden_ emerge dallo stato transitorio attuale. Viene generato dalla mediazione di modi diversi: propagazione biologica, astrazione matematica ed esecuzione tecnica. Un robot, programmato con le stesse regole grazie alle quali i funghi crescono, incide e perfora il muro già abitato dai funghi, permettendo quindi alla luce, all’acqua e al vento di entrare e di facilitare le condizioni basilari della vita. Nel loro lavoro, Stangeland e Kropf creano metodi alternativi di costruzione utilizzando abilità e risorse locali, riutilizzando per esempio il patrimonio per la costruzione in legno o quello dell’industria del petrolio.
